How are Sedimentary Rocks formed?
A Sedimentary Rock is Sediments carried by wind and/or water.
Sedimentary rocks are formed through a series of processes: erosion, deposition, compaction, and cementation.
Erosion is when water, wind, ice and lose fragments where away the sedimentary rocks. Look at the grand canyon for an example. It wasn't always the way it is now. it used to be a river but the water and wind carried the rock away, leaving it what it is today.

deposition compaction and cementation.
deposition is when sediments settles outside of the river and starts to form layers.
compaction is when all the sediments are pushed down together.
Cementation is when the process of dissolved minerals crystallize & Glue particles of Sediment together.

4 types of sedimentary Rocks.
Shale Hardness; 3. Color; Black sometimes Tan.
Dolostone ~ its streak is white and its luster is glassy and perly, and its cleavage is perfect in three directions.
Breccia Hardness; variable, soft to hard. Texture; clastic. Color; White, Tan, Black, Clear.
Sandstone Texture; Only noticeable in a microscope Clastic. Hardness; variable. color; Tan, Gray and white.

Some common uses for sedimentary rocks is highway construction, and building stones. Sometimes fossil fuel.
